Fuel Crisis Booking & Cancellation Policy

Effective Date: April 7, 2026

1. Policy Overview

At Noosa Hill Resort we understand that the ongoing national fuel crisis and rising diesel prices (exceeding $3.00/L) may create uncertainty for our guests. However, to ensure the continued viability of our operations and staffing, our standard cancellation terms remain firm.

2. Firm Cancellation Terms

Standard cancellation fees apply to all bookings. Personal concerns regarding fuel costs, limited local fuel availability, or general travel “discomfort” due to the crisis do not qualify for a waiver of cancellation fees or a penalty-free refund.

3. Exceptional Circumstances

We recognise that government-mandated restrictions are beyond the control of our guests. Noosa Hill Resort will offer a full credit note or penalty-free reschedule only in the event of the following official government actions:

  • Government-Mandated Lockdowns: If the Queensland or Australian Government implements stay-at-home orders or travel bans that physically prevent you from reaching the Sunshine Coast.
  • Fuel Rationing: If the Australian Government officially escalates the “National Fuel Security Plan” to include mandatory rationing (e.g., “Level 4” restrictions) that legally restricts your ability to purchase fuel for your journey.

4. Guest Responsibilities

  • Travel Planning: Guests are encouraged to monitor fuel availability via the Fuel Supply Taskforce updates.
  • Public Transport: As the government is currently encouraging the use of public transport to conserve regional supply, a lack of private vehicle fuel is not considered a valid reason for a free cancellation if public transport (bus/rail) remains operational.
  • Travel Insurance: We strongly recommend all guests hold comprehensive travel insurance. Please check with your provider to see if “Fuel Crisis” or “Force Majeure” events are covered under your specific policy.

5. Management Discretion

Any requests for cancellations outside of Section 3 will be handled on a case-by-case basis at the absolute discretion of management. No refunds will be issued for “no-shows” or early departures due to fuel anxiety.
